What is soil?

Soil is the top layer of our Earth. Soil helps trees grow so the trees stand up straight. Nutrients in soil come from dead bugs,dead leaves,and dead organic materials. Loam soil holds the right amount of water and air.

Why is soil important?

Soil helps plants grow from seeds. People need plants so they can eat fruits and vegetables.

Is soil a habitat?

Soil is a habitat for many species and for many plants as well. Earthworms live in soil and heaps of invertebrates live too.
